John D. Pellegrin Profile

John Pellegrin and his law firm specialize in business matters, advising new and established companies, entrepreneurs, consultants, and various organizations and associations. He also has an extensive practice and experience in the fields of Intellectual Property (trademark, copyright, patent coordination/referral, computer/Internet, media, literary and media agency), project management, consulting, government contracting, international, communications, non-profit organizations, litigation, business succession planning, and wills/trusts/estates.  Mr. Pellegrin is also Of Counsel to the Fairfax-based law firm of Allred, Bacon, Halfhill & Young, PC.

 

Formerly a member of the Federal Communications Commission's legal staff, Mr. Pellegrin is a member of the Bars of the United States Supreme Court, Virginia, District of Columbia, and New York.  He holds degrees from Georgetown University and Fordham University School of Law.  He has achieved an AV Preeminent (highest) rating from Martindale Hubbell, the international directory of practicing attorneys and practices before several federal government agencies, including the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), U.S. Patent and Trade Office (USPTO), Copyright Office, Federal Trade Commission (FTC), U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and  the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

He has written numerous articles on telecommunications and new technology issues, appeared before many industry groups, and represents multifaceted entities (some international in scope), associations, and non-profit/educational entities, assisting with the implementation of their projects and lines of business/service.  He also presents Business Succession Planning (BSP) and related subject matter topics before various organizations.

 

Mr. Pellegrin is also active in the community, including the Rotary Club of West Springfield (Board, Program Chair), Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce (past President and Board member), other area Chambers of Commerce, MVLE, Inc. (Board), and former President/Board member of the Springfield Golf and Country Club.  He currently serves as Chairman and At-Large Commissioner on the Fairfax County Small Business Commission.  He also works with the Community Business Partnership/Women’s Business Center, and has taught in the Fairfax County Adult Education program. He is also serving as Chartering Organization Representative (COR) to a Boy Scout Troop and Cub Scout Pack, himself having achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and induction into the Order of the Arrow. He chairs the annual "Ethics and Leadership Day" conference for West Springfield High School students.

Mr. Pellegrin has been honored with various awards by The Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce, Rotary International (Vocational Services Leadership Award), Rotary Club of West Springfield (President’s Citation & Distinguished Service Award), as well as the Volunteer Fairfax Benchmark 500 Award and the Fairfax County Volunteer Service Award – At-Large Community Champion and Springfield District Community Champion.

John Pellegrin honored by Chairman Sharon Bulova. Your student might have run into “Judge” Pellegrin at some point in their school years. Why you ask? He runs the annual Ethics and Leadership Day for over 70 student and presides over mock trials. John Pellegrin is a stalwart figure not only for his unique style and warm personality, but for his dedication to Fairfax County, having served as Chairman Bulova’s appointee to the Small Business Commission for over 10 years, offering invaluable knowledge and guidance on issues that affect all parts of the County.

Community Champions Honored at 25th Annual Fairfax County Volunteer Service Awards
 

Supervisor Pat Herrity Honors John Pellegrin.

John Pellegrin has volunteered for 16 years with the Rotary Club of West Springfield, dedicating 500 hours to the organization in 2016. Over thecourse of John’s Rotary journey, he has participated in all aspects of theRotary Club of West Springfield’s service projects. Recently, John has organized several “Service above Self: Outstanding First Responder of the Year” awards to honor our public safety employees. In 2016, he organized an awards ceremony for three EMS technicians and one police officer who serve the West Springfield area. John’s efforts have demonstrated how proud the Fairfax Community is of our public safety employees as well as boosting community and employee morale.

Supervisor Herrity states,“John has epitomized the Rotary’s motto “

’service above self” in every regard.”
